Futsal is an indoor version of football.Futsal is played between two teams of five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper, and up to seven substitutes per team. The game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a football.The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.
Iran has a strong national futsal team, which has won the Asian Futsal Championship for nine times out of the ten times held.

Iran had not contested a Fed Cup tie since making its debut appearances against Ecuador and Japan back in 1972.Iran was drawn along with Kazakhstan, Hong Kong ,Singapore in Asia/Oceania Zone Group II Federation Cup 2009 held in Perth, Australia.However,Iran lost all its encounters .
